Explain the relationship between Santiago and the Marlin. How are they alike? How does Santiago feel about this grand fish?

  1. Santiago fells very strongly about the fish. even in the beginning, when he first hooked it, he praised it, calling it a great, strong fish, for it was dragging his boat out to sea. Later on, after he killed it, he feels bad, and keeps saying he regrets killing it, and that it is greater than he is. Him and the fish are alike in that they didn't give up and kept fighting for the three days, and in the end, they both lost, because he killed the fish, and the fish was later eaten by sharks, and Santiago never reaped the benefit from catching him.
