Santiago?

Describe Santiago (the "Old Man") at this point in the novel. What do you have in common with him?

  1. Santiago is a very old man, who fishes alone, and hasn't caught a fish in 84 days. He is thin and wrinkly with blotches from skin cancer, and scars on his hands from the fishing lines. his eyes are like the sea and are cheerful and undefeated. At this point, he is just getting out to sea for another day of fishing. What I have in common with him is that we both like fishing, and both me and him seemingly don't give up easily.

  2. Santiago is an old man who fishes and has 84 days without catching any fish. But he doesn't give up and has pride. He lied to the boy about having food, even though he didn't. I really don't have any common things with him , cause I really don't like fishing and he's a much older guy than me. although one thing we do have in common would be that I have old scars like him.

  3. Santiago is an old man that has been fishing his whole life. He is a strong and small man for his age. He's lonely and has the boy, Manolin, as company from time to time. Santiago trys to stay positive even in the hard times. For example when he's not able to catch fish he says "tomorrow is another day." I feel like we have the positive attitude in common. I try to stay positive even in the rough times too.
